1. Introduction
Share Gyan (‘Share Gyan’, ‘we’, ‘us’, or ‘our’) is a stock-market analytics and information application for the Nepali capital market, operated by Peridot Pvt. Ltd. Share Gyan provides market data, company analytics, charts, watchlists, stock alerts, and related informational tools.
This Privacy Policy explains what information Share Gyan collects when you use the Share Gyan mobile application and related services (collectively, the ‘Service’), how we use and share that information, and the choices available to you. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
2.1 Account and Authentication Information
- Name — received from your Google account when you sign in, used to personalize the Service and identify your account.
- Email address — used as your sign-in identity and account identifier.
- Authentication identifiers — an internal user id and access/refresh session tokens issued by our servers and stored on your device.
- Sign-in provider — we record that you authenticated with Google, or that you are using a guest session.
Sign-in is handled through Google Sign-In or as a guest. Share Gyan never receives or stores your Google password, and we do not collect phone numbers, dates of birth, addresses, or identity documents.
2.2 Investment Calculator Information
Share Gyan includes a stateless investment calculator (for example, buy/sell and capital-gain calculations). The values you enter are sent to our servers only to perform the calculation and return the result; they are not stored as part of your account and are not linked to your profile.
The app does not maintain an in-app record of your holdings or transactions.
2.3 Watchlists and Stock Alerts
When you use these features, we store the records you create on our servers so they are available on your account:
- Watchlist entries — the symbol, company name, and sector of each security you choose to track, linked to your account.
- Stock alerts — the symbol and the lower and upper price thresholds you set, together with a delivery status managed by our systems, used to trigger notifications.
These records exist to provide the functionality you requested and are removed when you delete your account.
2.4 Device and Technical Information
To operate and secure the Service, we process the following technical information:
- Push notification token — a Firebase Cloud Messaging registration token for your device, associated with your account while you are signed in so notifications can be delivered to you.
- App preferences — theme, language, onboarding state, and similar settings stored locally on your device; these are not uploaded to our servers.
- Cached content — market data and API responses are cached on your device (including in an on-device database) so the app works offline; this cache may include your watchlist and alerts while you are signed in.
Share Gyan does not collect your precise or approximate location, contacts, photos, or other device identifiers. The app requests only the permissions it needs — internet access and push notifications, plus legacy storage access on older Android versions used by the document viewer.
2.5 Crash and Diagnostic Information
We use Sentry, a crash-reporting service, to collect diagnostic information when the app crashes or encounters certain errors. Depending on the error, this may include stack traces, technical state of the app at the time of the error, and generic device and app metadata used to group and diagnose issues.
Crash reports are not linked to your name or email address in our configuration. We use diagnostic information only to identify crashes, diagnose technical problems, improve stability, and improve application reliability.
3. How We Use Information
- Create and manage your account and authenticate you across sessions.
- Provide Share Gyan functionality, including market information, analytics, charts, and search.
- Maintain your watchlists and process your stock alerts, including triggering notifications when a price threshold is reached.
- Deliver push notifications, including public market announcements and your personal alerts.
- Provide access to free and, where available, premium features of the Service. We do not collect or store payment details in the app.
- Provide customer support and respond to your requests.
- Detect, prevent, and address abuse, fraud, and security issues.
- Diagnose crashes and technical problems, and improve the stability and reliability of the Service.
- Comply with applicable legal obligations.
We do not use your information for advertising or marketing profiling, and the app contains no advertising or marketing-analytics SDKs.
4. Google Sign-In
You may sign in to Share Gyan using your Google account. When you choose Google Sign-In, Google’s own sign-in screen asks for your consent; after you approve, the app receives your name and email address, and we use them to create or access your Share Gyan account.
- What we receive: your name and email address from your Google profile, and confirmation from Google that authentication succeeded.
- Why we use it: to identify your account, sign you in, and display your identity within the Service.
- What we never receive or store: your Google password. Authentication is performed entirely by Google; your password is entered only on Google’s sign-in screen and is never visible to, transmitted to, or stored by Share Gyan.
5. Push Notifications
Share Gyan uses Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) to deliver push notifications. When notifications are enabled, your device obtains an FCM registration token. If you are signed in, that token is associated with your account so stock alerts and account-related notifications can reach your device; when you sign out, the token is detached from your account.
- Public notifications: every install may subscribe to a general ‘all users’ topic used for market-wide announcements and public updates. These notifications are not personalized.
- Personal notifications: if you are signed in and create stock alerts, notifications are generated for your account when a threshold you set is reached.
You can disable notifications at any time through your device settings. Disabling notifications does not delete your account, watchlists, or alerts.
6. Watchlists and Alerts Data
The watchlists and stock alerts you create are associated with your account and are used solely to provide the corresponding features: displaying the securities you selected and evaluating your alert conditions against market prices to send notifications.
Investment calculations you run use the figures you enter only to compute and return results during your session. We do not build an investment profile from your use of these tools.
7. Market and Company Information
Share Gyan displays market prices, company information, financial data, news, and analytics obtained from market data sources and our servers. This content is general market information and is not personal information belonging to you.

8. How We Share Information
We share information only with the providers that make the Service possible, and only as needed to operate it:
- Google (Sign-In) — authenticates you and provides the name and email address you share with us.
- Google Firebase (Cloud Messaging) — delivers push notifications and manages registration tokens on our behalf.
- Sentry — receives crash and diagnostic reports so we can identify and fix errors.
- Hosting and cloud infrastructure — the servers that host the Share Gyan API and database process your account, watchlist, and alert data to provide the Service.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
9. Data Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include encrypted transport (HTTPS) between the app and our servers, token-based authentication for account requests, and storing authentication tokens on your device in a protected storage area excluded from device backups.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you become aware of a security issue affecting your account, contact us at info@peridot.com.np.
10. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account, your profile information, watchlists, and alerts are deleted from our systems as part of the deletion process.
In limited cases we may retain information where reasonably necessary — for example, to maintain security, prevent fraud, resolve disputes, or comply with legal or regulatory obligations. Any information retained for these purposes is kept only for the period needed for them and is not used for other purposes.
11. Account and Data Deletion
You can request deletion of your account from within the app (open Profile, then Legal, then Delete Account in the Share Gyan app), or use the Delete Account page on this website (sharegyannepal.com/delete-account). Both use the same account system.
- Your Share Gyan account and profile information (name, email address, and account identifiers) are permanently deleted.
- Your watchlists and stock alerts are permanently removed.
- Your session ends and the app returns to guest mode. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
Deleting the app from your device, signing out, or simply stopping use of the Service does not delete your account or the data held on our servers.
12. Children’s Privacy
Share Gyan is a financial-information service and is not directed toward children. Signing in requires a Google account, which is itself subject to Google’s age requirements. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and we do not market the Service to children.
If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us at info@peridot.com.np and we will take steps to delete it.

14. User Privacy Choices and Rights
- Notifications — enable or disable push notifications at any time in your device settings.
- Account deletion — request permanent deletion of your account as described in ‘Account and Data Deletion’.
- Access and correction — your name and email address come from your Google account. To change them, update your Google profile and sign in again, or contact us.
- Questions — contact us at any time about your personal information using the details in ‘Contact Information’.
We will respond to genuine requests within a reasonable timeframe.
15. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as the Service evolves. When we do, we will revise the ‘Last updated’ date at the top of this policy, and for significant changes we may provide additional notice within the app.
Your continued use of the Service after an update takes effect means you accept the updated policy. If you do not agree with an update, you can stop using the Service and request deletion of your account.
